Dustin Pedroia is a second baseman for the Boston Red Sox.
During his career in the majors, Pedroia was named the 2007 American League Rookie of the Year and the 2008
American League Most Valuable Player.
He also won a Silver Slugger as a second baseman and was second overall in batting average in the 2008 American League.
Pedroia was drafted by the Red Sox in the second round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft.
He was selected to the 2007 Topps Major League Rookie All-Star Team.
On December 3, 2008, Pedroia signed a six-year contract extension worth $40.5 million, in addition to a team option for 2015 worth $11 million.
